This is excellent for mending respiratory reflux (LPR). I consistently read high alkaline ph levels at over 9.0. This is medicine for those of us who suffer from what can be a debilitating illness. This, along with diet changes and other recommendations by prominent ENT doctors, is what got me out of my multi-year suffering from horrendous shortness of breath brought about by reflux - before I discovered what my condition was, I was getting ~3 hours of sleep for over 3 years. Only alkaline water at around 9.0 ph level and above can kill pepsin, the component of stomach acid that lodges into the upper airways. I used several brands of store bought alkaline water for a year (which are fine) but if you really want to neutralize your reflex problems and you're an acute sufferer like I was, you need this filter - it is far more potent than store bought varieties due to the materials used in this to imbue alkalinity. It maintains a high potency that lasts about 3 months before the alkalinity reduces to a 8.0 range in my experience which lines up with the stated life of each filter (though I'm consuming for 1 person, so not sure how quickly a whole family's consumption would impact this). High quality, and well worth the price. An absolute must for acute LPR sufferers.
