How To Become Healthy
A lot of people ask me where to start to get healthy. The logical place to start is at the beginning. By keeping things simple and looking at the single cell and its function, it won’t matter if you are talking about high blood pressure, arthritis, diabetes or even cancer, you have to find out why the cells aren’t working the way they are supposed to. By getting to the root of the problem, you don’t treat symptoms, you get to the root cause of what is going on.
Each organ system in the body has groups of cells that like specific environments to thrive in. The cells in these environments have very specific requirements. The cells need adequate water to fuel, metabolize and clean house. The cells need oxygen to burn fuel and they need a slightly alkaline environment in which to function optimally, with the exception of the stomach, of course, which is acidic.
When the body terrain slips towards the acidic side, the body starts to mimic the rotting forest floor. All kinds of opportunistic yeasts and fungus start to grow and can appear in the blood during a live blood cell analysis. As the body become chronically acid, it is ideal terrain for cancers and other serious and chronic diseases to take hold. It is interesting to note that eating a high sugar diet will do exactly the same thing in the body – create yeast and fungus overgrowth.
As people get older they become more dehydrated and acidic. This is one of the suspected causes of cancer in aging adults. When researchers in the lab want to speed up the growth of cancer they reduce the available oxygen to the cells and lower the pH to the slightly acidic side. In reality, the sicker a person becomes, the more acidic their body terrain becomes.
As long as cells have enough water, oxygen, quality fuel and a slightly alkaline environment, they can maintain their homeostasis or equilibrium and their health. To understand how simple cell chemistry works to promote sickness or health, you need to understand the nature of acidity and alkalinity.
Simple high school chemistry shows that water which comprises 70 percent of your body can be broken down into H+ and OH-. When any water solution contains more H+ than it does OH-, it can be tested and shown to be acidic. When it contains more OH- than H+, it too can be tested and shown to be alkaline.
When oxygen is introduced to an acidic water solution in the body and combines with the H+ ions, it forms water. So oxygen helps to neutralize the acidic ions to form a neutral solution. Inside the body, some of the oxygen is used up to neutralize the acid so it is not available for the cell to use to burn its fuel. The acidic tissues have used up the free oxygen.
On the other hand, an alkaline solution is the opposite. Two OH- hydroxyl ions can combine to form one water molecule and one oxygen atom. This type of solution produces free oxygen that is available for the cells to use.
Chemists measure acidity and alkalinity with a pH scale ranging from 0 to 14, with 7 being neutral. Below 7 is acid and above 7 is alkaline. Blood must always remain at an alkaline pH 7.4 so that it can retain its oxygen. With the exception of stomach fluids which must remain acidic to digest food and urine which must remain acidic to remove wastes from the body, human body fluids such as blood, lymph and cerebral spinal fluid are designed to be slightly alkaline at a pH of 7.4.
If your body fluid pH is 7.5, your body fluids are in the healthy range, meaning that, for the moment at least, you are not mineral deficient. If your pH is between 6.0 and 6.5, you are becoming acidic and therefore developing one or more of the 150 degenerative diseases. If your pH is below 6.0, then you are highly acidic, very mineral deficient, and may have contracted at least one degenerative disease.
Alkalinity is anabolic (builds up) and acidity is catabolic (tears down). In other words, as each of our cells perform their task of respiration, they secrete metabolic wastes which are acidic. These wastes are the end product of cellular metabolism and must not be allowed to build up. The body goes to great lengths to neutralize and detoxify these acids before they are in a position to act as poisons in and around the cell, changing the environment of the cell. If our bodies become acidic by dropping below pH 7.0, oxygen is driven out thereby, according to Nobel Prize winner Otto Warburg, inducing cancer.
Most of us have healthy, alkaline body fluids as children, but as we reach our thirties and beyond, more minerals leave our bodies than we ingest. It is this loss of minerals that causes our bodies to become increasingly acidic.
When adequate mineral consumption is in the diet, the blood is supplied the crucial minerals required to maintain an alkaline pH of 7.4.
However when insufficient mineral consumption is in the diet, the body is forced to rob Peter (other body fluids and organs) to pay Paul (the blood).
In doing so, it removes crucial minerals, such as calcium from the saliva, spinal fluids, kidneys, liver, teeth, etc., in order to maintain the blood at pH 7.4. This causes the demineralized fluids and organs to become acidic and therefore anaerobic, thus inducing not only cancer, but a host of other degenerative diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, lupus, etc..
Everyone knows that the human body is made up of 78% water by weight, and that water is hydrogen and oxygen gases. When nitrogen gas and carbon in the form of carbon dioxide and methane gases are added, the total gas in the body by weight becomes over 95%. Almost half of the remaining 5% that makes up the human body and controls all biological functions is the mineral calcium.
Acidity and sugar craving One other thing you will find of interest. Another reason for your sugar craving, besides the Candida parasite, comes from the body being too acidic. Try it yourself and see. Test your pH with litmus paper when the cravings are strong. Test your pH again and when you have balance, watch your sugar cravings go down or go away altogether.
A Few Ways to Restore Acid/Alkaline Balance in Your Body:
The general “rule of thumb” is to eat 20% acid foods and 80% alkaline foods. Avoid the “strongly acid” foods. Strongly Acid: meat, fish, soft drinks. Mild Acid: grains, legumes, nuts Mild Alkaline: fruits, vegetables, berries, dairy Strongly Alkaline: green leafy vegetables, brocoli, spinach
Supplement your diet with alkaline minerals such as cesium, rubidium and potassium . These have been found in studys done by Dr. Brewer and have been found to be effective in fighting cancer. Dr. Gerson, founder of the Gerson cancer therapy, author of “A Cancer Therapy: Results of Fifty Cases and the Cure of Advanced Cancer” (page 246) gave his patients a 10% potassium solution. Potassium tablets are commonly available. Potassium bicarbonate (KHCO3) can be used as a substitute for sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) when baking. You might try mixing a teaspoon of potassium bicarbonate with water and drinking it before going to bed each evening.
Supplement your diet with freshly made fruit and vegetable juices as a treatment for cancer. The recommendation is one 8 oz glass per hour for every waking hour of the day. We could never eat the amount of nutrition we drink with these juices.
Learn Trancendental Meditation or get a hobby that takes your mind away from things because it is a way to increase the alkalinity of your body. Trancendental Meditation gives a level of rest twice as deep as that of sleep and is an effective antidote to stress. Stress is insidious to cancer because it affects us 24 hours each day. Stress causes the heart to beat too fast, the muscles to be too tense, the entire metabolism to be too fast.
Taking Coral Calcium from Okinawa, Japan supplies calcium plus 72 trace minerals to help raise your pH. Sea Salt also has over 50 trace minerals to help with your acid/alkalinity balance, so if you must eat salt, it might as well be doing some good for you.
