The Body is Dependent on Adequate Water and Ionic Minerals for All Its Functions
“Our bodies consist of about 75% water, in a purely healthy state. In that state our blood is at its optimum pH, the “pump” that pushes nutrients into the cells and the acidic waste out of the cells is working to perfection. Each of your cells is plump with life and vitality. Your whole body is humming along in a flow of energy and efficiency. Most of the water inside us is salty. It’s just like the sea. It’s almost like we crawled out of the ocean to live life on land. Depending on our activity level, we can start to dry out at an early age.… Read the rest

There are hidden substances all around you, in the air, in your food and water. Not to get paranoid about it is a good call. You would have a hard time living, if you knew and dwelt on all the ramifications. But a good housecleaning once in a while is a good plan. As you learn to reduce, reuse and recycle in your own home and environment, you learn to reduce toxins and waste in your world. You learn to do things a different way and you learn to do without things that are potentially harmful. You can do that inside, too, in your internal environment.
Just as our world has become piled with garbage, polluted with industrial chemicals, wastes and filled with smoggy air, so is our inner world filled with the remnant of toxins that we take into our bodies unwittingly or unknowingly, day after day.… Read the rest

According to sports nutrition researchers, muscles are designed to work well only in a narrow range of almost zero acidity. Arterial blood works best with no acid at all. So the pH of an animals (especially a race horse) blood is critical! The body has a secret balance that is not only designed to keep your horse healthy, but to make movement more comfortable and efficient. That balance is the acid/alkaline balance. Acidity and alkalinity is measured by a unit called pH.
The most important factor, other than injury that causes a horse to “train off” faster than anything else is a drop in its blood pH. In the early stages of pH disturbance, it can be hard to detect why a horse would start to lag.… Read the rest

A few years ago now, William Duffy wrote a book called Sugar Blues. In it he writes about the addictive qualities of white sugar saying, “It is much like a drug and the difference between sugar addiction and narcotic addiction is largely one of degree,” What makes sugar qualify as an addictive substance? By eating one piece or one bite of something containing sugar, it creates a desire for more and more. Also when one decides to quit eating it ‘cold turkey’, withdrawal symptoms appear which encourage one to go back to eating sugar again. Symptoms like depression, fatigue, fuzzy thinking, headaches, blurred vision, strong cravings and mood swings are not pleasant and can be caused by withdrawing sugar from the diet.… Read the rest

We’ve all seen the websites of the self-proclaimed debunkers of faux science and other myths. They explain to us that, except for the things we personally known to be true, everything we believe to be true is completely false. Almost every rumor we have heard turns out to be an urban myth when it comes to the Quack Watchers and other debunkers. And if something that they denounced turns out to be true, not another word is ever said about it and the debunking web page is quietly removed.
What quack watchers do best is plant doubt in our minds when we are trying to search out the truth about something such as a health issue. It’s easy to be a skeptic.… Read the rest

We all know that we need oxygen. It is breathed in through our lungs then “magically” transported to the blood stream where it is combined with fuel in the cells. Ultimately this gives us energy to fulfill our busy lives. A resting adult uses about 250 mL of pure oxygen pure minute, but only 1.5 percent of it is dissolved directly in the blood plasma. During exercise and work, the body uses more. The rest is transported by the hemoglobin in a metal complex called heme. Heme consists of iron complexes which transport oxygen to the cells and tissues. Through complex signaling the oxygen dock and undocks from the heme. Polypeptide chains are formed from amino acids and the metal complexes.… Read the rest

Go to the fridge of any supermarket and you will find dozens and dozens of different brands of water and other beverages. There are even a dozen or so energy drinks which will shock your adrenals and give you a temporary boost of cortisol to rev you up. If all else fails get a shot of caffeine with a bunch of sugar added, can it and you’re good to go.
To understand why you are dehydrated, we need to look at the basics. It all comes down to acid/alkaline balance and of course why you are attracted to drinks in bottles in the first place. It is not attractive or enticing to drink something out of a tap that smells like a swimming pool.… Read the rest

It is estimated that over 80% of all deaths in North America are premature. That is to say that their deaths could have been prevented. The leading causes of death are heart disease, diabetes and obesity. Because these health conditions are the result of a chronically acid body, science now believes that these conditions are totally preventable. Other health conditions like allergies, depression, poor digestion, headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, fatigue, anxiety, asthma, osteoporosis, cancer, infections and many other conditions, 68 or more, all have direct links to our nutritional intake and the amount of acidic forming foods we consume.
We are a fast-paced society and to live in certain cities and parts of the world you need lots of energy just to keep up with the pace of life.… Read the rest

According to scientific studies in recent years, having belly fat and fat around your middle brings about a predisposition to heart and circulatory disease in addition to diabetes and other chronic illnesses. That muffin waist or that ski jump is dangerous to your health. What I am going to tell you now, may surprise you.
Fat gain seems to be triggered by dehydration. When the trigger happens, the body cannot differentiate between thirst and hunger. Tests show that in random groups who appeared to be hungry, a glass or two of water, when consumed, dissipated hunger pangs in all but one person.
When the body is dehydrated, even a two percent water loss, scientists are saying that it creates fuzzy thinking, short term memory loss, fatigue, lethargy, aches and pains, acidic body terrain, false feelings of hunger, blood sugar issues, blood pressure issues and many other symptoms.… Read the rest

There is increasingly greater scientific evidence that body pH and free radical capacity is one of the greatest indicators of health ever known. It all started in 1935 when Otto Warburg was awarded the Nobel Prize for discovering the lack of oxygen as the cause of most diseases, particularly cancer.
Since then oxygen capacity and its related issues have been at the forefront of some of the most brilliant research to date. One of the major components of the health equation is pH. When diet, lifestyle and drinking habits combine into a net acidic gain, the pH of the tissues and the surrounding fluids will drop, along with the capacity to carry oxygen. Because the blood feeds the tissues and removes the waste and toxins, it tries to remove some of the metabolic acids from the body fluids and tissues.… Read the rest
