Believe it or not, the skin is the largest organ in the body and makes up about 15 percent of the body’s weight. The average adult has from 12 to 20 square feet of skin surface. If we took apart the skin, we would find that it is 70 percent water, 25 percent protein and 2 percent fats. The remaining bits would include trace minerals, nucleic acids and other chemical constituents.

The skin is made up of layers which have different functions. The epidermis is the part of the skin that we see when we look at ourselves. This layer is our first line of defense against bacteria and substances that may be harmful to us, and contains an oily film called the acid mantle.… Read the rest

It’s ironic that most people don’t associate any kind of religion or spirituality with the effects they both have on their health. Even fewer people seem to know anything about alkaline food and alkaline diet and even less about alkaline, ionized water, especially how they affect their health. One of the most profound effects on health comes from your thoughts. Your state of mind has a tremendous influence on your personal health and vitality. How good you feel depend a great deal on what you are thinking. What you thought about yesterday is manifesting today.

Looking at the beautiful photographs of the water crystals of Dr. Masura Emoto one can see how water can store thoughts and thought energy. If that is indeed possible as Dr.… Read the rest

Recent research is arming scientists with an ever increasing body of evidence from research labs around the world that claims more deaths and disease in the West from an overly acidic body.

This easy to understand models explains that whenever the body burns food as fuel it creates acidic by-products that are toxic to the body. Many of the scientists at the forefront of this research now believe that accumulated build ups of these acidic wastes can be a primary cause of chronic disease, overweight and aging. This evidence also points to a huge contributing factor in such horrifying diseases as cancer.

Over the last hundred years the North American diet and lifestyle have changed dramatically. No longer do we eat what we grow on our farms and in our back yards.… Read the rest

Imagine trillions of little engines, one or more in each of the cells in your body, each one alight with the fire of energy production and cell maintenance. As each little engine uses the fuel provided by our digestive and enzymatic process and combines with oxygen, it draws fuel into itself and gives off metabolic exhaust. This metabolic exhaust is the free radicals that run amuck in our body. They become a grave problem because unless they are neutralized by anti-oxidant activity or anti-oxidant enzymes, they ricochet around our body, burning holes in our tissues by snatching oxygen molecules and regenerating. The process cycles continuously unless the free radicals are neutralized. This tissue destruction is called oxidative stress. As we get older, the tissues become inflamed by this oxidative attack and the signs of aging begin to appear.… Read the rest

Osteoporosis is where the bones in your body become porous from mineral loss. The lack of bone density leads to bone weakness and a higher risk of fractures from fragile bones. There are a number of risk factors that are attributable to osteoporosis including, menopause, lack of Vitamin D, smoking, steroid use, chronic, excessive alcohol intake, lack of exercise, genetics and low intake of calcium-rich foods.

Recent scientific research is showing that although the risk factors can contribute to bone loss, there is one main root cause. It is an acidic body condition called acidosis. It is endemic in North America. It is caused by our poor diets and our dehydrated body condition.

Osteoporosis affects 1.5 million Canadians and 15 million Americans and those numbers are growing as our populations age.… Read the rest

Kidney stones are a symptom of an acidic lifestyle and dietary choices. The first major cause of kidney stones is sugar. I guess I’m dating myself here, but when I was a child, I remember a song I would hear on the radio called Sugar In The Morning, Sugar In The Evening… The babysitter I used to go to after school would give me sugar sandwiches on fluffy white bread as an after school snack. Now, of course, there is so much evidence out there that sugar in ALL forms causes terrible things to happen in the body, one of them being kidney stones. The second major acid producer in the body that can cause kidney stones is animal protein. When someone can eat half a bucket of fried chicken or that 16 ounce steak at a single sitting, then there is really cause for concern.… Read the rest

Ah, Baseball Season! Warm weather, the smell of popcorn and hotdogs wafting over the stands and our team is winning. Whether it is you playing or your kids, or maybe you’re all sitting in the stands, you all need to have enough water. Drinks like sodas, sports drinks, juice and coffee don’t cut it. All of them are acidic. None of them are healthy and long term use can cause health problems later on. You need to drink good quality water.

You probably think you are already drinking the best water. After all your local public health department assures you that your tap water is just fine. It is loaded with additives and maybe even by-products from those additives that may make the water acidic and unhealthy to drink over the long term.… Read the rest

Go to the fridge of any supermarket and you will find dozens and dozens of different brands of water and other beverages. There are even a dozen or so energy drinks which will shock your adrenals and give you a temporary boost of cortisol to rev you up. If all else fails get a shot of caffeine with a bunch of sugar added, can it and you’re good to go.

To understand why you are dehydrated, we need to look at the basics. It all comes down to acid/alkaline balance and of course why you are attracted to drinks in bottles in the first place. It is not attractive or enticing to drink something out of a tap that smells like a swimming pool.… Read the rest

Surprises aren’t always nice. A recent survey showed that a little more than half of all the adults in the US are overweight. Statistics show a surprising 64.2 percent of the population is overweight or obese. Determination of whether someone is overweight id determined by finding a person’s Body Mass Index or BMI.

BMI is a formula that takes a person’s body weight and height and calculates whether they are underweight, a healthy weight or overweight.

A lot of people have no “education” in regards to diet and what is healthy to eat. I know the egg and milk lobbies bombard us with why these products are good for us. But that is just conditioning to sell you products. Is this stuff really good for you?… Read the rest
