Of all the health risks, one of the most serious is obesity. Doctors are now associating obesity with higher rates of chronic medical problems and a much poorer quality of life than is seen with alcohol abuse, smoking and even poverty. In the June 2001 issue of Public Health, an article states that the risk of heart disease, osteoarthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure and certain types of cancer rises with increasing weight gain.

We all know that it is possible to put on weight because we take in more fuel in the form of calories than we need, so the body starts storing it. But there is another type of weight gain caused by toxins present in the body. Toxins are stored in fat cells as a mean of protecting vital organs.… Read the rest

Go to the fridge of any supermarket and you will find dozens and dozens of different brands of water and other beverages. There are even a dozen or so energy drinks which will shock your adrenals and give you a temporary boost of cortisol to rev you up. If all else fails get a shot of caffeine with a bunch of sugar added, can it and you’re good to go.

To understand why you are dehydrated, we need to look at the basics. It all comes down to acid/alkaline balance and of course why you are attracted to drinks in bottles in the first place. It is not attractive or enticing to drink something out of a tap that smells like a swimming pool.… Read the rest

Sugar is one of the most seductive foods out there. It tastes good and it is in more foods than you can imagine. Worst of all, with some people it is addictive. They can’t get enough of it. The truth is sugar is a poison. It will eventually ruin your health, especially past the age of 35.

The sad thing is, everyone thinks they are immune to any kind of illness. They keep eating things that they like, because they like them. They don’t think about consequences down the road. I feel fine right now so that is all that counts.

Sugar is an emotional comfort. It brings comfort and pleasure when you’re tired, stressed or upset. Time for coffee and donuts at 10:30 to tide you over until lunch.… Read the rest

It is estimated that over 80% of all deaths in North America are premature. That is to say that their deaths could have been prevented. The leading causes of death are heart disease, diabetes and obesity. Because these health conditions are the result of a chronically acid body, science now believes that these conditions are totally preventable. Other health conditions like allergies, depression, poor digestion, headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, fatigue, anxiety, asthma, osteoporosis, cancer, infections and many other conditions, 68 or more, all have direct links to our nutritional intake and the amount of acidic forming foods we consume.

We are a fast-paced society and to live in certain cities and parts of the world you need lots of energy just to keep up with the pace of life.… Read the rest

It’s so nice that you and your honey have decided to have your own sweet bundle of joy. Just like you get ready by quitting smoking, letting go of those weekend cocktails and smartening up your diet, you need to prepare your body in one other important way.

Once you understand how your body works, you can avoid a lot of the “side effects” of being pregnant and even avoid a lot of the fussy baby problems after delivery.

When you eat food, your body burns it as fuel in the cells which give off little puffs of metabolic exhaust. This metabolic exhaust is chemically acidic and the osmotic pumps in your cells and your lymph must have enough water available to push the acidic waste into your elimination system.… Read the rest

Alkaline Water and Obesity

Prof. Hatori Tasutaroo, Head of Akajiuiji Blood Centre, Yokohama Hospital, Faitama District

“Due to a higher standard of living, our eating habits have changed. We consume too much proteins, fats and sugar. The excess fats and carbohydrates are in the body as fats. In the present lifestyles, Americans are more extravagant on food compared to the Japanese. Due to this excessive intake obesity is a significant problem. Normally, one out of five males and one out of four females is obese.

The degree of “burn-out” in food intake largely depends on the amount on intake of vitamins and minerals. However, there is not much research carried out pertaining to the importance of vitamins and minerals.
