A few years ago now, William Duffy wrote a book called Sugar Blues. In it he writes about the addictive qualities of white sugar saying, “It is much like a drug and the difference between sugar addiction and narcotic addiction is largely one of degree,” What makes sugar qualify as an addictive substance? By eating one piece or one bite of something containing sugar, it creates a desire for more and more. Also when one decides to quit eating it ‘cold turkey’, withdrawal symptoms appear which encourage one to go back to eating sugar again. Symptoms like depression, fatigue, fuzzy thinking, headaches, blurred vision, strong cravings and mood swings are not pleasant and can be caused by withdrawing sugar from the diet.… Read the rest

The following article is very important for everyone to understand what stress does to them in their daily lives. It is one of the worst factors to create an acidic condition in the body which causes inflammation. Science is now proving that acidity in the body is the root of all inflammation and subsequent disease. It is so important to remember that whatever foods you eat are not enough. You need to eat more alkaline-forming foods in your diet. You need to supplement your diet with alkaline, high antioxidant “foods” and drinks. Recent scientific studies indicate one of the simplest and most effective ways to alkalize your body is to drink Cerra alkaline, ionized water. If you drink alkaline, ionized water all day, in addition to better food choices, you are repairing the three serious risk factors for disease, an acidic body condition, free radical damage and dehydration.… Read the rest

Recent research is arming scientists with an ever increasing body of evidence from research labs around the world that claims more deaths and disease in the West from an overly acidic body.
This easy to understand models explains that whenever the body burns food as fuel it creates acidic by-products that are toxic to the body. Many of the scientists at the forefront of this research now believe that accumulated build ups of these acidic wastes can be a primary cause of chronic disease, overweight and aging. This evidence also points to a huge contributing factor in such horrifying diseases as cancer.
Over the last hundred years the North American diet and lifestyle have changed dramatically. No longer do we eat what we grow on our farms and in our back yards.… Read the rest

There is a force that pushes the blood through your arteries to oxygenate and feed your cells. The measurable force is called blood pressure. Without getting too technical, there are two measurements to the blood pressure. When you get your blood pressure taken, it would look like 120/80. Healthy blood vessels exhibit pressure within normal ranges. When the pressure rises above normal ranges, you have high blood pressure and of course, if the pressure goes below normal ranges you have low blood pressure. High blood pressure is called hypertension.
How does high blood pressure happen? It usually starts with dehydration. I know, it sounds strange. If you drink fluids how can you possibly be dehydrated? You may be interested to know that about 70-80 percent of the population is chronically dehydrated, according to recent scientific studies.… Read the rest

In a recent issue of the Journal of Experimental Medicine, Australian researchers have shown how a sugar hit affects the microzymas that make up human genes, altering their ability to function. Since sugar is very acidic to the body, the microzymas “remember” the hit for up to two weeks. The effect is such that the genetic material switches off genetic controls that are designed to protect the body against damage that causes chronic disease.
Researchers in Australia, led by lead researcher Sam El-Ostra, from the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute says, “ We now know that chocolate bar you had this morning can have acute effects, and those effects can continue for up to two weeks.”
“These changes continue beyond the meal itself and have the ability to alter natural metabolic responses to diet,” he told Australian Associated Press Friday.… Read the rest

Kidney stones are a symptom of an acidic lifestyle and dietary choices. The first major cause of kidney stones is sugar. I guess I’m dating myself here, but when I was a child, I remember a song I would hear on the radio called Sugar In The Morning, Sugar In The Evening… The babysitter I used to go to after school would give me sugar sandwiches on fluffy white bread as an after school snack. Now, of course, there is so much evidence out there that sugar in ALL forms causes terrible things to happen in the body, one of them being kidney stones. The second major acid producer in the body that can cause kidney stones is animal protein. When someone can eat half a bucket of fried chicken or that 16 ounce steak at a single sitting, then there is really cause for concern.… Read the rest

While most people want their nails to look presentable, some people turn them into fashion accessories, getting artificial fingernails, using striking polish colors or having decorations applied or painted onto their nails. Despite our need to manicure them, nails play a very important role as a window to our overall health. They obviously protect the underlying tissue and we use our nails to scratch places that are itchy. Looking at fingernails can show sign of ill health and nutritional deficiencies. Some Eastern practitioners diagnose directly from the look of the fingernails.
Nails are made up of layers of a protein called keratin which is also found in our hair and skin. The nail and its surrounding structures are made up of six parts.… Read the rest

Surprises aren’t always nice. A recent survey showed that a little more than half of all the adults in the US are overweight. Statistics show a surprising 64.2 percent of the population is overweight or obese. Determination of whether someone is overweight id determined by finding a person’s Body Mass Index or BMI.
BMI is a formula that takes a person’s body weight and height and calculates whether they are underweight, a healthy weight or overweight.
A lot of people have no “education” in regards to diet and what is healthy to eat. I know the egg and milk lobbies bombard us with why these products are good for us. But that is just conditioning to sell you products. Is this stuff really good for you?… Read the rest

Sugar is one of the most seductive foods out there. It tastes good and it is in more foods than you can imagine. Worst of all, with some people it is addictive. They can’t get enough of it. The truth is sugar is a poison. It will eventually ruin your health, especially past the age of 35.
The sad thing is, everyone thinks they are immune to any kind of illness. They keep eating things that they like, because they like them. They don’t think about consequences down the road. I feel fine right now so that is all that counts.
Sugar is an emotional comfort. It brings comfort and pleasure when you’re tired, stressed or upset. Time for coffee and donuts at 10:30 to tide you over until lunch.… Read the rest
